  Or if you are out on your date, pick up a sweet smelling fallen bloom such as Frangipani, or pick a pretty wildflower and present it to her.

  And the day after your wonderful date, send her flowers - or at least a card with flowers on it, saying what a wonderful time you had.

• Chocolate for two:
  He'll just love it if you bring along chocolate to share. When the time is right you can break of a bit from a bar and pop it in his mouth.

  And if you have a box of chocolate between you, it can be a really romantic gesture to let your partner have first choice, rather than dive in and grab the coffee cream center you like.

• Look at the moon:
  If it's an evening date and a fine night, go for a walk and stop and look at the moon. Take the opportunity to share something romantic and personal about yourself.
• Go shell hunting on the beach together:
  It can be real romantic togetherness to take a walk along the sand and collect shells.
• Savor the sunset:
  Before or after you go to dinner or a show, take your date somewhere with a lovely view to watch the sunset. Make sure you have brought something warm for his or her shoulders if it's an unexpected detour.

• Be a gentleman or a lady:
  Open doors. Make sure your partner is settled and comfortable in the car. Help her with her coat. Offer your hand to guide her. Let her sit down first. If it is a him, just always allow him to be first with a sweeping gesture like a grande Maitre d'hotel.

  This may just sound like quaint old fashioned manners - but it can sure get you some brownie points for consideration and romance.

  And girls when he holds the door open for you or pays you a compliment, don't look at him as if he is mad. That's not romantic! Accept the gesture, smile and say thank you.

  Many of these have free entry and you can enjoy hours of hand-in-hand wandering as you gaze at and discuss pictures and artifacts you are both interested in.
• Open air entertainment:
  Check your local events calendar for a free open air concert, play or band performance where you can take a rug and a picnic.
• Romantic transport:
  A sightseeing ride on top of a bus, or a ferry across the harbor or lake won't cost much but can be very snuggly.

  Or simply take a bus or a train to somewhere you've never been before and stop, explore and have a coffee or ice-cream
